Himself is tucked into bed in his own hospital room. Rather than liver or bile duct cancer, he has been diagnosed with large-cell lymphoma. The doctor is very confident about his chances, as this kind of tumor "responds well" to chemotherapy.

I'm browsing the Web for shawl patterns. I have a skein of pale gray laceweight extra-fine merino that wants to be knitted up. I'm leaning toward this one: http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEwbis11/PATToceanspray.php.

It's been so quiet around the board lately. Anybody doing anything fun?

So glad you found out what is wrong with himself and that it can be treated. Will pray for minimal side effects with the treatment and that he can be home soon.
Couldn't get to the picture of the shawl for some strange reason. Page that came up ask if I was lost.
I haven't been on much this past week as we got the sock pattern for Round 3 of Sock Madness and only 25 knitters were going to be going on to Round 4 and I wanted to be sure I was one of them. And I am!!!!!! So excited.
Hope everyone has a super fantastic weekend.

Aud,
I'm pleased to hear that hubby's condition is not so serious as I had feared. Serious enough no doubt though. Hugs

Anything interesting? Well I'm reading my first ever e-book which I borrowed from the library. You download it and I jokingly asked if they wanted me to return it like a normal book. In fact you do sort of have to return it as I was told that after the loan period it self destructs "so someone else can borrow it"

The borrowing process was easy, but reading on a screen is not so good as with a paper book (I've got a desktop to read it on) Also the text is littered with bad typos - about one per page - almost as bad as my typing.

What else? Oh yes, son is playing rugby tomorrow. I feel a wimp thinking that a 50 min drive to the game is a long way. There's not nearly so much rugby played here as football.

Took my daughter to the station to send her back to University for the summer term. She keeps saying that she thinks she belongs in Cardiff - it suits her. Whether this is because she's free from parental naggign I couldn't possibly say.

The drought here continues with heavy rain most days, just right for the cricket season to start.

Still struggling with the revised skew sock design, it laughs at me from where it lurks un-knitted. It's much more tricky than I'd thought.

Audrey,

I have 5 skeins of laceweight KnitPicks Shadow in my stash for 3 years that I did not know what to do with.

It told me it wanted to me Jarrod Flood's Bridgewater Shawl. I am currently on row 15 of the horseshoe lace border and loving ever stitch. The garter stitch center is first and it is what you will need as Himself gets treatments. Look at the pattern and see if it suits your needs for this long journey.

I will pray for you and for him....right now.

Barb R.

Hey Audrey. I've been following the updates on FB and am glad that it is not as serious as first thought but still serious enough. We are all thinking of you and sending prayers and good vibes your way. I tried to find your shawl but got to a little comic strip that said I was lost! I'll try to get in another way. I think I've looked at that shawl and remember thinking I should add to my to do list. If its the one I was thinking of it was very, very pretty.
It has been quiet here but I've noticed that the spamming activity has slowed too! Shocked Not sure if it is relative.
I'm finishing up a pair of socks that I'm testing for someone on Ravelry. I'm also addicted to the Woolee winder! My friend has gotten an electric spinner so she lent me the one she had on her Lendrum and I love it! It is so great to keep spinning without having to stop to move the thingamajig over every couple of minutes. I might have to ask for one from Santa.
Other than that we are trying to stay warm and keep busy. Work has been a little crazy so not too much time for other things.
Barb it's good to hear from you! Sounds like things are going well. Pete, those socks can laugh all they want. I have full confidence in you. I once tried to read an ebook on my computer screen and it was too difficult, hard on the eyes and uncomfortable. Michael and I got a Kobo for Christmas this year and it is much easier to read from. I'm more into the audio books so I can knit as I listen.
Needleq good luck with sock madness. Sounds like you're knitting up a storm!
Well hang on tight everybody. We're starting another week! Have a great week! Happy Earth Day!

Well, hello Barb! Very Happy

I found the Bridgewater Shawl, and it's gorgeous! Haven't got the right needles on me, but I'm going to mark the page...

Thank you all for your prayers and kind thoughts. It's been a roller-coaster, but at least we're past that first terrifying plunge. Now we just have to ride out the ups and downs.

It's windy (again), and the sun is playing hide-and-seek. My mom said that they took Junior for a walk down to the creek yesterday. He threw lots of rocks in the water, and got to pet a frog! Junior turns four on Tuesday; I know his best present will be seeing Daddy walk in the door. Very Happy

Soo glad the prognosis looks good Aug! Very Happy

Enjoy the eBook Pete. I love the way the library has evolved. I can stay at home on a cold day...(yes Lou warned me of a possibility of snow!Evil or Very Mad ) and download an eBook or audio book without leaving the house! Awesome! And yes they do self destruct at the end of the borrowing period.

Sent my mid-child off the Vancouver this morning on an early morning flight. We decided the family will fly out an visit her near the end of May. Its her last work placement and then, hopefully, a job.

Well I can barely move at the moment (Hmm I think knitting is still possible, I'll give it a try...want to finish that last sock sometime this year!) but yesterday my girls and I, plus my sis, had a team in Bust a Move Ottawa to raise funds for the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation. ALL day fitness classes! Lots of fun, huge group and we won for our outfits Laughing . I'll share a pic if I can find one I look decent in *lol*.

Okay... I think I need another nap!

Going to weaving classes the last 5 Mondays. Got 4 more to go. Got a rigid heddle loom from Kromski and am have a lot of fun with it. The classes are for shaft floor looms but much of the information applies to my loom too.

2012 also sees me up to my arm pits in alpaca. Hubby found a guy who has been throwing away the alpaca from his pets and is going to buy this years shearings for the cost of having a shearer come out in May and shear the animals.

What a deal huh.... Laughing

A very good deal. How many animals are we talking about here? Any chance you might be willing to part with some of it?

Aud, that shawl is beautiful!!! I have to make it.
Also very glad to hear that Larry is not as bad as at first thought. I added him to the prayer list at church. My prayers will continue to go up.
Call, text, or message me anytime you just need a friendly voice, shoulder or whatever.
