Our house is now full of student stuff, having just collected DD from Uni. Naturally one acquires a huge amount of stuff over the year. Where is it all going? pon the lounge floor of course.

Tomorrow D?S has his end-of school ball. They do still call it the "5th Year Ball" despite the term prom becoming ubiquitous for this type of event. As far as I can see there isn't much promenading going to go on.

So dear parents have to transport him first in the afternoon to the place where the after-party is - 36 miles round trip - to pitch his tent; then home, then to the ball - 30 miles - Fortunately he's blagged a liuft betweent he two, so we won't have to make another 40 mile round trip at midnight. Then collect the next day - another 36 miles.

he has learned to tie a bow tie in honour of the occasion though this is more so that he can then wear it untied later in the evening in the manner of James Bond.

Still not much work, but a few small projects on the go.

I had to sit down suddenly when DD said she was thinking ( only 'thinking' mind you) of getting a job in the summer..

Pete, sounds like you have a very busy weekend. I had to take youngest son to a town 30 minutes away to meet a friend who just happens to be a girl so they can go to the movies. Lucky for me that there are two craft stores nearby and a bookstore, so I have some entertainment. Will be working on the twined socks from Sock Madness 6. Twined knitting for me is very slow and it is just the cuffs, ankle band and heel flap and heel turn that are twined and I am working on the heel flap on the first sock and have the second sock waiting for the ankle band, had to order more yarn and wind it into cakes to make sure I had enough to finish them.
Hope everyone has a great weekend, stay safe.

What are twined socks? It's something other than cables isn't it?

Nt much on the go this weekend. I went to the local museum where we have been working as a guild to refurbish the spinners' and weavers' exhibit to do a demonstration with a fellow member for the St Andrew's Histirical Society from Ottawa. It was a lot of fun. Then home to do the usual weekend chores. I made rhubarb lemonade for the first time and it turned out very well. Now I need to focus on finishing... No wait... Starting my report cards 'cause theu're due tomorrow!!!! Shocked Not much knitting or spinning in the forecast today. Sad One accomplishment I have achieved though is that I finally am comfortable with the magic loop and love it! It did feel cumbersome at first but now it's great. No more wooden spiders!
Have a great weekend everyone and be safe!

Twined knitting is using two strands of yarn and twisting them after every stitch. Sort of like some color work, but using two strands of the same color. Not sure I can really explain it all that well, so you might want to google it , yahoo it or whatever search engine you like , just type in Twined knitting and you will probably get more information than you wanted.
Hope this will give you an idea of what it looks like.

Happy Father's Day, Pete! Sounds like you have your hands full. Wink

We had a double celebration today; Father's Day and a birthday picnic for Himself. Lots of hot dogs and cake, plus musicians.

Not a lot of knitting this weekend. I've still got another foot of fringe to do on the shawl, and the shoulder strap of a new felted bag to finish. I may need new glasses; my eyes are starting to get that sunburnt feeling after ten or so minutes of close work. Oh, well. The doctor said that my eyes could get worse one year, better the next, and have no change the year after that. As long as they still work, right? Smile

Next weekend (Saint Audrey's Day, woo-hoo!) we'll go to the territorial capitol for a Living History demonstration. What color wool should I take along for spinning?

Is there really a Hysterical Society in Ottawa? I expect Aud will be starting a branch of her own.

Still working on the same three second sock singles I've been working on for months. It's so hard to knit when it's 102 degrees F outside. Gack! Almost 39 C for you Europeans. Tomorrow, think 40 C. Way too hot for my blood.

When did we come back online???

We lost my mother-in-law Saturday. She got sick on Friday the 8th, went into the hospital on Monday the 11th, was transferred to Riverside in Columbus on Wednesday late the 13th, and passed away on Saturday the 16th. She was 82 but was a very vibrant, active, busy lady. We are all pretty much in shock over it all.
Dale being the oldest is having to deal with a lot of things. When his Dad passed 11 years ago his Mom took care of all of it. He had no idea what all was involved. With the passing of his Mom we have so much more to do. We have to figure out what to do with all the household items, the house, her car, just everything.
She had a 5 year old mini- daschund that I have taken it. No one wanted her but no one wanted her to leave the family. So Judy gets her. She is getting along pretty well with Dale's dog and my cats. I think it is all going to work out ok. At least I hope it does.

Judy

Judy, So sorry for your loss. Prayers for comfort for you and your husband.

We've been back on for about 2 weeks. One day I just decided to try one last time and it just popped up. Still haven't figured out what went wrong, just glad we are back together.
