So here I am on a very rare quiet weekend and its not because the kids haven't gotten out of bed yet! Wink

Hubby is off to a mountain to act as a pack mule and haul bags of cement with a few others to fix up the old fire tower at the top. All three kids have gone off together to watch some concerts in Montreal and stay with their cousins. Its just me and the cats.

Last night I did a few more dish cloths, I've been uninspired for anything bigger in this heat. (Please send rain!) Today, once I finish lazing around, will paint some baseboards in the laundry room hoping the cats don't help and rub into them. So who can beat that! Laughing What are you up to this weekend?

I am so jealous of your quiet weekend. I just got back from taking youngest son sort of school shopping at a mall that is about 45 minutes away and on the way home stopping for groceries at wal mart. I am pooped. Haven't done any knittting or spinning yet today. Hope to ply the roving I have been working on all week for Tour de Fleece and maybe finish my Rosslings, only have the toe to finish and am about half way done with that.
Hope all have a safe and fun weekend and can get some relief from the heat.

Ooooo I'm a little late here but here goes! It was a busier weekend here but mighty hot. I picked up DH from the airport as he was coming up from Halifax from visiting friends. He came bearing gifts! Wonderful BFL and merino roving from Gaspereau Fibers near our friends' home! On the weekend, I was helping out with the guild display at the museum during their annual antique quilt show. It was great! There were 250ish visitors despite the sweltering heat and the daughter of the lady who donated the barn loom for our display came to the museum and was able to sit at the bench just as she had as a little girl. She had pictures of her and her mother weaving with her! She is 89 years old and when she sat at the bench in front of the loom, she was moved to tears. So were we. It was a great moment! We invited her to sit with us as we spun and chat. She stayed for about an hour and a half and it was wonderful to hear the stories of weaving bees and get togethers from the past. But IT WAS HOT! Shocked The building we were in had windows but they had been painted shut! Sooooo, we had non 1860 fans everywhere and the curators kept us in cold water all day. In was still a great day! I was exhausted when I got home but had managed to spin a full spindle.
Sunday, well I did nothing! Laughing
On another note, I went to Lake Placid with a friend yesterday and we found another cute yarn shop! It was a wonderful drive but storm beaten. They had a whopper of a storm the night before and there were many fallen and uprooted trees. There were clean up crews everywhere and road delays as trees had fallen over hwy 86.
It's the Adirondack yarn shop. The owner was incredibly helpful and they had a ton of samples of things knit up! I saw a lot of Ravelry patterns! She also had some Madeline Tosh and Koigu and lots of Lamb's Pride and Fleece artist. There was some local alpaca and Cotswold home spun and rovings. We had a great time. Then we walked down the street and visited some artisan shops. It was the perfect summer day! I love those day trips! I was tempted with some Fleece Artist lace yarn and the Sea and Shells stole pattern by Val Campion on Ravelry. Can't wait to start it, that's today's goal!
This weekend promises to be a little quieter, maybe more spinning and knitting. Hope you had a great week! Very Happy
