Oh Judy! I'm so sorry! Like Audrey said we are thinking of you and wish we could be there to help. Know that we are all thinking of you. I'm also sending lots of hugs over the wires. _________________ Appaloosa

| Judy I'm so sorry. I think you did the right thing too. We have to do what's right for them even when it will hurt us a lot. Katie was lucky to be part of your family. *hugs* |

Thanks, my lovely and loving friends.
I am coping and so is Betsie and Coley. Coley is having a hard time of it. Katie was his "mommy". When stressed he would lay between her front legs and need her bib.

My chickabiddies are laying eggs nicely for me. I actually sold 2 doz this week. LOL. I only have 6 hens right now and we also share the eggs with our son.
I really want some Americana hens so I will have the pretty blue and green eggs to go with my really light brown eggs. They are so light they are actually a rose color.

A girlfriend of mine adopted a little calico a while back. I think calicos must come in season very early. Betty didn't get her to the vet in time, so two weeks ago Callie presented her with five little easter eggs. One is a patchwork calico like her, one is mostly white with calico spots, one of which is smack on the top of her head (I have taken a fancy to her but I really can't afford vet bills since I'm retired, alone, and on a fixed income and have to pay an astronomical amount for meds since my heart attack), one marmalade, one solid black, and one tuxedo. Their eyes are open and they're starting to explore the world. And of course, nothing is cuter than a kitten. They are really stretching my heartstrings.
Yoo-hoo out there? Anybody want a kitty? |

My daughter (bless her heart) brought me 12 Americauna chicks yesterday. Well, I did say I wanted some, just not 12, maybe 6. These are all pullets so I can't even plan on "processing" the roosters later on.
Now I just have to wait about 4 or 5 months to start having eggs.

| I always loved the pullet stage. Their little voices start changing, and they look so surprised when they cluck. We always called their first eggs "magic eggs", because they had no yolks. |

Just found out our youngest furbaby(7yrs old) has Feline Infectious Peritonitis. And that it is a matter of time before she leaves us. Just don't know what to do with her. Don't want her to suffer and will probably have her put to sleep. _________________ needleq

Thank you. It is so hard to watch her breath and it reminds me of my Dad's breathing the last time I saw him before he died back in 1999. Just would like to know how to tell if she is suffering, should I still force her to eat. She is drinking water but it is hard to tell how much and she does pee a couple of times a day. I think the hard part is knowing that there is nothing I can do. _________________ needleq

Sorry to hear, Needleq. I'm thinking of you. I know it is a tough, tough decision and hard to know when they are suffering. _________________ Appaloosa

Oh no! I'm so sorry. Just read about it... no cure.
I think you have to judge quality of life and, sad to say but speaking as one who has spent a LOT on my fur-babies, finances. Struggling to breathe is pretty scary to me. We know your decision will be hard. Big Hugs! |

So sorry to hear this, nq. It is a hard decision but one we sometimes have to make.
I learned the hard way (this past January) that is is gut wrenching, but it is the kindest thing to do sometimes and really shows our love for our furbabies.
Hugs and prayers.

Little Smokey passed on last night and we just finished burying her. So wish my 21 year old hadn't been with me when we found out that she didn't have much time. I would have had her put down then. It was hard watching her slowly lose the ability to walk and not want to drink. It is over now and she is in a much better place and is at peace. Thank you all for your support and prayers, it all means so much more than you will ever know. _________________ needleq
