Good morning everyone,
Hope you are keeping cool wherever you are! We are sweltering here so the logical thing to do is to knit alpaca socks! Shocked
I finally finished school on Friday and am glad to be on partial holidays. It seems that in administration you are never really off. That didn't tell me this when I signed up! Wink That's okay. I'm sure I'll get into some woolly trouble no matter what. I'm just finishing a test pair of socks from Ravelry for someone. Then I think that I'll venture with another shawl.
Is anyone doing the Tour de Fleece?? I thought I would do it without the TV part of it but it is not the same. Having no TV makes it a little difficult. All the same, I think I'll call it Tour De Birds! There are a ton of them in the yard with their babies right now so I'm enjoying knitting and spinning on the deck watching their antics.
Audrey, the owls are back! A pair had three little ones this year right in the fence line. We see them lined up for supper every night on the rail fence at the edge of the yard! Quite the show and quite the concert, even at 3 am.
Pete, how is your splinter? I hope that the infection is gone!
Happy belated July 4th to all our American friends! Hope you had great celebrations!
Sooooooo, what's everybody else doing this weekend. Cheers!!

I am doing Tour de Fleece and am on Team Eejits. Could have been on Team Kiwi, but decided one team was enough to keep up with. Even bought new spindle a Trindle, it has three arms that fit into a neoprene hub on the shaft, you can change the weight of the spindle by how many grams the arms weight. Had mine started with merino dye in shades of orange, was spinning last night and the hook came out, think the wood around it split out, so need to send it back to be fixed or replace or ????. Did use my kiwi before the spindle came and will go back to using it or one of my other spindles or make a new one. From here thing I read the temperatures up north are higher than here in Florida, we are in the low to mid 90's and right now the humidity is not too bad. Hope everyone has a fun and safe weekend.

We are supposed to have a high of 106 today. We still do not have power so we are melting. I am ready to go get back in the pool. Dale and I were in rely this morn. Need to get in long enough to cool down but not long enough to get sun burned.
I am knitting the "mystery summer Solstice" by Wendy Johnson. I finished clue c. The next one will be out Tuesday I think. It is a fun easy knit.
Well off to the pool.

Judy

Sadly my hand is still infected, and the rain keeps on a raining.

So what else - the choir did a set at a golden wedding anniversary party yesterday which was pleasant and a chance to see a few folk I've not seen for a while, including one friend who only lives about 300 yards from my house.

I've got another idea for something to knit which isn't socks, but more later on that one. I might actually do this one. I'm also considering the Olympic sock knittalong as four years ago when you cast on a pair of socks during the opening ceremony and then try to get them done before the end. Of course they'd have to be straightforward or ones I'd done before.

Lovely weekend! Saturday at the cottage ...I learned how to how mow that part of the lawn with its obstacles of steep slopes and big frog jumped out and scared me. Luckily I go very slow so, I hope, no wildlife was in danger. I plan to use ground cover that needs no mowing if we ever get the funds to rebuild this place. Son and his dad were occupied putting more wall supports up in the basement to keep it standing till said time. Rolling Eyes

Just downloaded some mitten patterns from http://knitfreedom.com/ even though it still fairly warm but NOT as hot as yesterday thank goodness.

Cheers!

Huzzah! the splinter is out of my hand!

It was about 1/2" long but I won;t post a pic here in case of the squeamish.

If that was the only piece of foreign matter it will heal up. I do feel loads better already.

Thanks all for your concern

Dear goodness Pete - a half inch splinter! Makes me cringe to think of it! Glad it's out.

Hope the hand feels better! Vi it's never too hot to knit. But I have to admit that it was roasting a couple of days ago. Not bad now though. Very Happy
