What is everyone doing on this special weekend? It is all white here after a surprise snowfall. We had all the trees covered and it looked wonderful. My family is in bed and true to form, I'm knitting the sleeve to a baby sweater that needs to be done for Sunday. But that's okay, it's -17C outside, the fireplace is roaring and I am enjoying a glass of "grape juice" as I knit away on this sweater. It's the puerperium cardigan from the Harlot's blog with thicker yarn and bigger needles. Lots of fun to knit. Have a very Merry Christmas and a happy belated winter solstice. _________________ Appaloosa

Merry Christmas, one and all. Have one more pattern for the Advent Scarf I am working on. It has a been a fun learning knit. I have learned to pay extra attention to the directions when they involve a * and the words from * to the end. Not sure there will be much knitting or spinning this weekend, but sure hope there will. Hope everyone gets lots of fibery goodness in one form or another. _________________ needleq

I don't normally do this but... YAY for the snow. Yes, as Lou says, we finally have a bit on the ground and possibly more on Christmas day. (then it can stop! ) My son was really missing it! Not Christmas here without it.
Finished one pair of slippers and will edit the pattern to suit the other daughter. Good thing that with two girls what I knit usually fits at least one of them.
The 'kids' are out so I'll wrap the last of the gifts then maybe enjoy a spiked hot cocoa.
Merry Christmas to you all, my knitterly friends. You are a wonderful bunch!
Cheers,
Yolanda |

| Merry Christmas everyone. Busy preparing tomorrow's lunch. I don't have a big family to cook for - just dh,dd,granddaughter and mum. But it will be good to be together. Mum is 86 years young. No snow here just lots of rain. |

Merry Christmas, all! Let's see, what's in the "done" pile?
Sants brought my present a few days early: strep throat. The good news is, he didn't bring any for the boys, so we had a happy dance about THAT. The shopping part is done, thanks to keeping a very short list. Gift cards to favorite stores for immediate family, and "certificates" for special home-cooked meals plus musical entertainment for close friends.
The Christmas cards are... neatly stacked in the mudroom, waiting to become "Happy New Year" cards. Oh, well. Santa's the only one expected to do it all in one night, so I'm giving myself some leeway. Sheesh, I'm even out of candles for the Menorah. What a slacker.
*snicker*
I wish I could personally deliver a Christmas hug (minus germs) to each and every one of you. Your kind words and humor have kept me sane and focused during some rough patches, and I look forward to a new year full of new memories of you. |

Merry Christmas everyone! I love what you said Audrey! I'm envious of the ones with snow (ok, maybe not Dani since she is also STUCK). We had a sunny and very mild (nearly 50) Christmas Eve. I went downtown and had a sort of "urban Christmas" afternoon (saw somebody ice sculpting Rudolph, got to sit back and sip a holiday drink while watching last minute people run around in a bit of panic, took in the giant tree and enjoyed the Andean band playing Christmas music, watched the kiddies on the carousel.....and now I'm home spinning (a fiber color called "Gumdrops").
A "Very Merry" to you all!!!

Deary me, and here was I thinking I'd been up a long time, and you're already there.
Traditionally the children get up before their parents on Christmas morning, despite dire warnings about noise and earliness.
Today, however, I was quietly listening to the radio in bed when I remembered that Santa hadn't come yet. OK there isn't normally much of interest in the mini-stockings these days, but there is tradition to consider. Perhaps I'll get one of the others to do them next year, I was nearly the same age as my daughter when I made up my first stocking for my now-wife.
So here I am, up, alone, waiting for the house to surface and seeing what you folks are up to.
Have a Happy Christmas all of you, congratulations to those who have the 'right' amount of snow and commiserations to those with too much.
Today we'll have the family here - 12 of us, thought we share cooking, my parents will bring the meat (beef this time) and my sister the stuffing and puds.
I've just got a ton of veg to prep, but I won't start yet as there's more cred to be obtained by being seen doing it, and also the possibility that one's teenagers might get the idea.

Merry Christmas to one and all. Hope you all had a great one.
Mine was grand. I went to the nursing home yesterday afternoon so Mom and I could go to their program, then down to Dale's Mom's for our fam get together, then to a candle light service at church. Finally home and a little time to relax before bed.
This morning was the first time since we had Josh (almost 35 years ago) that we did not have early rising with the kid(s). They came up after we had breakfast at Dale's Mom's. After breakfast the kids came up and we had Christmas and then I started finishing up dinner which was not had until around 2:30 or 3:00.
After we finished eating, cleaning the kitchen and visiting a bit we all went up to the nursing home to visit with Mom awhile.
Finally home, jammies on, and feet up. Long tiring day but a wonderful one _________________ http://busyj-jka.blogspot.com |
