Sleet today. Crying or Very sad

Good excuse to stay inside and do some long needed sorting and make room for daughter's return from Queen's Uni with all her stuff this month. Not sure where we will put it all but she wants to keep it as she intends to move out when she finds a job. BUT before that she has her last placement. 8 weeks at a hospital in British Columbia! Luckily we have family there that have offered her a place to stay so that is a HUGE relief.

She called about being fooled about an April Fool Joke telling her all her exams had been delayed. Laughing

Just a bit of knitting done last night but not much. No time. Confused
Hope someone has nicer weather than here!

Not the most pleasant weekend, event-wise. The weather, on the other hand, is just lovely.

I had so much fun making the doll shorts that I decided to make a whole wardrobe. They'll be given to my nieces as an Easter gift. Got a teeny little cabled sweater on the needles right now...

Knitting some baby hats made for the local hospital, a friend works in the nursery there and will give them to her. Other than that, not much knitting, waiting for the end of Round 2, three teams are done just waiting on the other two get their 32 slots filled for the next round. Great weather here today, did get some rain yesterday and it could have used a lot more, but will take what we get. Also waiting on an order from Webs of needles and yarn, expect one set of needles and the yarn sometime this week, not sure when the other set will get here as they are back ordered.

I haven't had the time, or inclination, to post for a few weeks so decided I would just do it.

I am in the midst of making toboggans and mittens in Ohio State colors. A nurses aid at the home asked me to make a set for her secret pal. Once I started they just won't stop. I have made 3 hats already. Only one pair of mittens. I also want to make scarves. I can't seem to stop. LOL.
I am thinking I will make a set and donate it to the home to use in their fall raffle. The yarn just keep jumping on my needles. I just don't know what is wrong. Embarassed Rolling Eyes

Am thinking that I need to go dust off my wheel and do a bit of spinning this afternoon. I have not touched it to spin since right after Thanksgiving. I will have to learn all over again.

The weather is beautiful here. We did have some storms Friday night but nothing to worry about. Just rain and some lightning. We were lucky.

Everyone have a good week and I'll try to stop in and say hi more often.

Judy

We've had a remarkable heatwave in the UK this last week - hosepipes are banned in some places including Hampshire ( I think )

This being Britain the rules for a hosepipe ban are arcane and irrational. We may NOT use a hose to wash our car but we may use one to wash our boat. I may not use a hose to clean windows etc (not that anyone would) but if I pay a contractor to do so then he may use one.

There again, this is a country which charges tax on the purchase of biscuits coated with chocolate but not coated with icing. Where there is tax on prawn crackers UNLESS they are made with tapioca. And my taxes (If I paid them) would be paying for the bureaucrats to think these things up. Rant rant

Anyway, the weather has started to chill down.

I knew it would happen. After the foray into the Skew Socks http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEwinter09/PATTskew.php I found myself redesigning them to improve the fit and adaptability of them.

Next stop: "Baby Skew" ! Only one consonant from something you really don't want in your knitting basket.

Oh, and my daughter is coming home for Easter today.

It was 100 degrees Fahrenheit outside on my back deck yesterday. Today, it is barely 40 degrees and snow is in the forecast for tonight. The wind is unbelievable - not quite the 90 mph predicted but the huge dead elm at the end of the house... where I'm typing this... might... oy, I think I'll move right now! Shocked

Ooo sounds like the temperature is crazy everywhere. Dani, are you okay over there!? That and British taxes - what a nightmare!
Well I've pretty much spent the weekend nursing a nasty cold. So I sat on the couch and read the Hunger Games. It is really a well written trilogy though it is pretty gory in parts. I don't think I can watch the movie. I'm currently reading the third book. Anyway I'm enjoying it.
So needless to say, no knitting or spinning was done this weekend. I'm currently testing a pattern for someone on Ravelry and I'm going to tackle it tonight. It's socks and I'm almost done the first one.
Tomorrow I'm staying home from work to try and shake this thing. I need to be in shape for Easter weekend as we are having my family over for dinner. Pork roast, scallop potatoes, asparagus and broccoli salad. My aunt is bringing dessert so I'm not sure what we are having yet but it is usually incredibly delicious.
Good to hear from everyone. Have a good and safe week!
