Is there any kind of chart online that shows the foot measurements of each US shoe size?
Thanks.

I used the Brannock scale knowing the size of the intended feet that belong to someone 600 miles away. Seemed kind of long to me, but we did call her 'platypus peds' when we were kids, so maybe her wide feet had something to do with the size.
But no... much too long. She sent them back, I reknit the toes and sent them back again. With the postage back and forth I could have bought another 100 grams from elann.

I am glad you said something about the Brannock scale being too long, because when I looked at it today, I thought it was too long. I almost posted something saying so, but then I thought it must be me that is wrong, because after all, this scale looks so "official"!! I even got out my measure and measured my feet, but still I thought, well, shoe sizes can run differently (although it's been years since I wore a shoe that small!) I probably just wanted to think that I really do wear such a small shoe, and all of mine are just mislabeled as bigger!! Isn't that what the stepsisters thought in Cinderella?!

| I wear a size 9, and my feet are exactly 10" long, so the chart looks okay to me (at least for that size!) I have seen other charts, though, that seem to indicate total SHOE length instead of FOOT length. Maybe you should try measuring your own foot and see if it matches your size on the chart. It would help me feel more confident in the chart or, alternately, realize that the whole thing needed to be scrapped. Good luck! |

The shoe size gadget in a shoe store (if your shoe store is still bothering to have the pesky thing) is made by Brannock.
For 5.5 U.S. women's shoe, Brannock gives 8 5/6 inches -- as a general rule, my size 5.5 shoes, any brand, as long as they aren't pointy-toed, can be used for measurement; heel-to-toe one-two-three-four equals one yard. My foot itself is very close to 8.5 inches. (So why do size 5.5 sandals extend so far beyond my heel and my toes? And why do store-boughten women's socks come in only one size: too damn big?)
