I'm in NW Washington. Just recently moved here from Arizona. I couldn't knit ANYTHING there. It was so hot, I just could not even touch yarn. Even when I was doing needlepoint, it had to be floss, not yarn. There was maybe 1 month out of the year that you could knit.

I'm much happier now.

I am in Oklahoma but I do not know if I am south or prairie? I voted south, suprized about all the south votes seems more or the northern states would knit socks. But maybe south is larger population since you cut off the coasts. Don't matter just as long as we are knitting, (well I do plan to get that pair of socks knitted someday just neet to figure out the heels) I am great on wash cloths.

Displaced Yankee, was from Massachusetts, now deep south, southern Mississippi that is. The heat is bearable but the humidity---aarrrgghhh! Socks are about the only thing I work on in the summer, even with the A/C I pinch those pennies Cool If I had a swimming pool I believe I would knit in it somehow!!!

Hi all,

I am from Eugene, OR, originally from the CT shoreline, and have lived in Chicago, Michigan, and Southern CA. Right now as I write it is 67 and sunny, going to be hot today. I stay under a ceiling fan and knit. Wonderful!

I think that it is so cool that we all are knitting across the world and come together to chat when we can. I think of that as I knit.

I think about my german gramma a lot when I knit. We would knit and crochet and craft together. Such wonderful memories. Mostly memories of laughing at mistakes and being happy to be creative. Those memories are 37 years or so old. Knitting brings it back and I go to such a peaceful happy place in my mind and heart.

Karen

Originally from central MN, I now live in Grand Forks, ND. Its is so incredibly, preposterously flat. Unbelievably flat. no trees, lakes, hills, nothing. Don't come here - you can see everything worth seeing from 100 miles away, anyway! :]
There's a great group of young women up here who knit, and we all think its too hot, too.

Hi: I'm not too far....Greers Ferry Lake. There is a fabulous LYS in
Conway. That's where I took the sock class and started knitting socks!
The knitting room is always open and gals bring their different projects and sit and knit a while....come and go.....really fun! The name of the store is Bella Lana and it is on Oak Street right in the main downtown area. There are several sock knitters in the area.

I'm in middle TN right now, about halfway between Nashville and Chattanooga. But I've lived in NY state, KY, SD, and CO, so I've been around! Hey, I've been to ND, went to a fiber fair in Valley City several years back. I love the prairies and really miss them. You can see forever. The sunrises and sunsets are incredible up there. I lived near Sioux Falls, SD, for 7 years, and would go back in a heartbeat. I live in the TN woods, and I've used to it now, but when I first moved down here in '98, it felt very closed in! Shocked I even missed the wind!
