Greetings from New Zealand (one of the *other* fabulous regions/countries in the poll)
Just wanted to come out from lurking in the shadows following the forum and say Hi to you all.
And just out of interest - anyone one else from New Zealand on here?

Hi,
I am new to Socknitters and I love it! Finally a site that I can relate to! I am from Eastern Ontario Canada near the city of Ottawa. The land of cold winters and hot summers. We are now in the full throes of winter and I am knitting up a (winter) storm. Wink
I too have been knitting for about 25 years and discovered socks about 8 years ago. I have been addicted since.

I live on Vancouver Island off the west coast of Canada.

Just west of me is a huge massive glacier.
It has extra snow just now. Wow!

We usually have rainy winters, but his one is really chilly..Br

Our LYS is awsome ( and within walking distance for me)

I'd love to meet with other socknitters in town ( Courtenay). I only know one --> who is actually my fault.( I loaned her a pattern and now she's done 21 pairs in 9 wks!!) ( chunky weight fo her grandkids)

Born and raised in Hawai`i, now I live in Damascus, Oregon, which is Oregon's newest city, if you can call it that. It's really a tiny town right now, only one stoplight. You can drive through it in less than a minute. We're in the country, about 20 miles SE of Portland.

I miss home, but love Oregon and am very happy living here.

THEY actually taught ME how to knit. LOL But I've blown past them (they're 8, 10 and 13). I am obsessed with felted bags and every time I finish one them foolishly ask who it's for. Laughing

New Jersey Girl here.
Can't really say sockknitting is too popular here. They all look at me like I'm nuts when I say I knitting a pair of socks. They just tell me to go to Walmart and buy a pair.

Pretty new to sockknitting, only three pairs done. But saturated in yarn.
Darn it feels GOOD. I'm hooked alright. Mostly do circular needles. I can't recommend enough DVD Sock I by Nenah Galati.

Look forward to posting soon.
Cathy

I have a couple of favorite ebay sites myself. I found one who offers kettle dyed / hand dyed roving and sock yarns in Merino and Peruvian wools. I need to stay away from her shop because I keep wanting them all. Laughing I practically drool on the monitor when I see the colors. I find myself petting the yarn on the screen. Embarassed

I also have a couple of favorites on Etsy as well.
