Magical Mystery Sock Tour
Welcome..... Step right this way! You have stumbled upon the Magical Mystery Socknitting Tour. (MMST): The MMST is the brainchild of Noel, who thought it might be fun to knit up some of the sock patterns posted out on the Internet without photos. The idea being to post photos of the finished socks afterward for all the world (more or less) to see. Originally, we thought we might get twenty or so volunteers from the Socknitter's List who would knit for the MMST... At last count we were only a few knitters away from one hundred and there are only three photoless patterns left on the net.
Thanks to everyone who knit for the Magical Mystery Socknitting Tour. Your participation in this endeavour has been greatly appreciated.
OK Folks, the Mystery Sock Photos are pouring in: so, without further ado...
Margot using 3.25mm needles knit this very nice sock and Briggs and Little Heritage yarn, which is 2 ply, worsted 100% wool. Margot says the color is grape, which is actually almost a dark blue-purple with tiny bits of other colors running through it like a wonderful surprise. She knit the heels and toes in Briggs & Little Tuffy, a 2 ply worsted, 80% wool and 20% nylon in smoke, which is a soft grey. Margot says B&L yarn makes a wonderfully elastic and cozy sock, which is also hard wearing, even without the Tuffy. The pattern for these socks can be found here: http://www.fibergypsy.com/patterns/brigsock.shtml
Lisa's Basic Sock is a good sock pattern to use with varigated yarn says Nancy who knit these for the MMST. She used a silk / cotton blend in a varigated peach and ended up with these pleasing socks. The URL is: http://www.math.vanderbilt.edu/~cjs/patterns/socks.basic
This is Kim Salazar's MMST contribution...the Firefighter socks designed by none other than Kim herself. This pair is in Stahl Big Print, Color #7925. One pair took 3 50g/85m skeins. Kim says she has the pattern available in
Adobe Acrobat (*.pdf) format and will send it to anyone who requests it via eMail. Otherwise the plain text version can be found at: http://people.ne.mediaone.net/kbsalazar/firesox.txt
Aren't these great looking socks? These are the much talked about Blueberry Waffle
socks knit by Lisa for the MMST. She says she really liked this pattern as
it was simple to knit and easy to memorize. These socks are made from Cleckheaton
8 ply DK weight yarn in a color called Jade Heather, which prompted Lisa's
kids to dub these the "Mint Chocolate Chip Waffle" socks. The URL for this
pattern is http://www.azhreia.net/socks/waffle.html
